History
Wong Bil Hung (1841 - 1934) Successor to Hark Fu Moon
|

Wong Bil Hung is known to be one of only two individuals who learned Hark Fu Moon kung-fu
from the Hoy Tung Temple Monk in Kwongchou. Wong Bil Hung studied Hung Gar kung-fu with
Wong Kay Ying and later studied Hark Fu Moon (Black Tiger System) with a Monk in Hoy Tung
Gee.
Hoy Tung Gee, a Ch'an Buddhist temple, is located in the southern portion of the City of
Kwongchou, in Kwongtung Province of southern China. The temple was built during the years 1666
- 1672. There were usually many visitors to the temple's grounds each day. Many vendors decided
to take advantage of this situation by setting up stands within the area to sell their goods. Wong Bil
Hung was one of these merchants, who came to sell his brand of home made sports medicine.
One day while setting up his stand, Wong Bil Hung had a territorial dispute with another merchant
named Liu Fai Fat. Unable to settle the dispute diplomatically the two quickly escalated to hand to
hand combat. The two martial artists were evenly matched. They were at a stalemate with Liu
grabbing Wong by the throat and Wong grabbing Liu's testicles. At this moment a monk from Hoy
Tung Gee separated the two combatants with overwhelming martial skill. Afterward, the monk
invited the two inside the temple and informed them of their mistakes. Liu and Wong were
embarrassed by their behavior and expressed a desire to become the monk's disciples.
The Monk accepted them as his disciples and trained them in Hark Fu Moon. Wong Bil Hung
changed the name from Hark Fu Moon to Fu-Jow Pai, and became the founder of Fu-Jow Pai.
